South Park disses Occupy

A recent episode of South Park poked fun of the "Occupy" movement, suggesting they are wasting their time, and will not make a difference.

South Park is one of the only intelligent shows on TV. However it lacks an ethical standpoint. It stands for nothing. This is what prevents it from ever being art. By being beneath art, it will not stand the test of time.

To be both highly intelligent yet devoid of meaning is the greatest of all evils

Using "comedy" as an excuse to get away with having no ideals is the same as saying "it's a kids show" to get away with bad writing. Ethics always belongs everywhere.

Comedy is that much more funny when it has that much more of an ethical point because it is then that much more realistic thus able to relate to.

Meditation

We are all terrified of time. It is the route of all our problems.

When we have too much time we're bored. When we have too little time we're stressed.

We will do anything to escape from the present: drink alcohol, smoke, get in fights, worry about the past or the future...

By meditating we confront time head on and we alleviate our fear of it.

When we concentrate on our breath we keep our mind in the present: every time our mind wanders we bring it back. We thus train our mind to live in the past.

When we concentrate on our physical sensations we keep our feelings in the present: every time we get a pain or an itch we don't scratch or move. We thus train our emotions to be present.

This solves ALL of our problems.

A change of perspective

A year ago I had an enormous bad thing in my life (financial debt) and a miniscule good thing (a no budget art film I was making)

I was extremely depressed.

I decided to ignore the enormous bad thing, and just spend a couple hours cultivating the good thing.

After those two hours I was extremely happy.

The bad thing had now become miniscule and the good thing had become enormous.

How to be Cool like me

-Say “Yeah” calmly and smugly whenever there is an uncomfortable silence.
-after a joke say “Thank you everyone, my name is ______ and I'll be here all night."
-At work when someone asks a question you can't answer say “I don’t know, I just work here.”

The exchange rate of people who are not self aware

When you are dealing with people who are not self aware the exchange rate is as follows:

-If they give you a penny they interpret it as though they gave you a million dollars.
-If you give them a million dollars they interpret it as though you gave them a penny.

It also works with cruelty:

-If they steal a million dollars from you, they interpret it as though they stole a penny.
-If you steal a penny from them, they interpret it as though you stole a million dollars.

This does not apply only  to money. They could kill your whole family and treat it like it was a minor misdeed. You could spill a glass of orange juice on their carpet and they would treat it like it was a tremendous injustice. They could pay you a minor compliment and treat it like they saved your life. You could save their life and they would treat it like it was nothing special.

The solution is to never do “business” with these people.

Idiotic villains

Villains and idiots are great in fiction, but not in real life. Voldemort is powerful and entertaining in fiction, but you wouldn’t want to have him as a friend. The Three Stooges are hilarious and lovable in fiction, but I wouldn’t want them to fix my sink. The danger is when people don’t realize that fiction cannot be reality. The end result is gangster rap: idiotic villains, making millions, and influencing young people to become idiotic villains.

Always treat people like they're animals

Always treat people like they're animals.

With animals, there is no intellect.

Never relate to people with intellect, always with emotion.

It isn't what you say, it's how you say it.

When you are talking to a bad employee, talk to him like he's a bad dog.

When courting a female, talk to her like she is a pink bunny rabbit.
